Cardinals - Band Berkeley Concert reviews
DMB Labor Day Sunday at Gorge
I used to go to see the Band Cardinals every year and sometimes twice a year when they had more than one tour. After a 3 year hiatus, I decided to return to the beautiful Gorge Amphitheater in George, WA to see them again. We bought our tickets late in the game and ended up having to settle for the Sunday night concert. But eventually, I got burnt out.
The show was good. I think this was the first Cardinals - Band show I've been to where I didn't know all of the songs because I think I'm behind an album or two. Not the best I've seen, but still good. They still played a couple of my all time favorites, 'One Sweet World' and 'Recently.' (That's how old school I am ;) )
I really enjoy the trumpet addition! The trumpet sound went so well with everything. I think their new sax player is very talented, but didn't always mesh with the sound. This was the first time seeing them since LeRoi Moore passed away.
I'm always disappointed when I don't hear 'All Along the Watchtower' at the encore, but I know they usually play that on Sat night. I would have liked to have heard some more oldies, but again I'm sure they played those on Fri and Sat already.
They always give such a great gift and despite the fact that it was a Sunday show, I'm really glad I went. Thank you again Cardinals - Band! You make a lot of people happy! Maybe perhaps too happy.
And one last note, I am now a huge fan of buying the Premier parking! This was reminiscent of when they used to have the BP early entrance passes. Not only do you get good parking, you get to enter the venue 15 mins before everyone else! We also got out of the concert in 10 minutes from sitting spot to road. That has NEVER happened to me. It is definitely worth the money!
